March Show Spotlights

Jamaican singer Chronixx has become one of the leading lights of reggae’s current roots revival, which has revitalized the dancehall scene and ushered in a new era of classic Rastafarian music. Best known for the single “Here Comes Trouble,” Chronixx’ 2014 Dread & Terrible album the Roots & Chalice mixtape and his latest album Chronology birthed many more hits, and paved the way for a massive North American 2017 tour, which hits the historic Fillmore March 23 and features fellow reggae revivalists Kelissa and Jah 9 as openers. What’s all the fuss about? For starters, there’s Chronixx’ laid-back, super-smooth singing style, which brilliantly contrasts with lyrical themes of consciousness, resistance, resiliency, and tropical cultural vibes. Add to that a charming and charismatic stage presence and near-flawless execution, and you’ve got a recipe for guaranteed niceness.
